In trimester 3, we'll be writing argument papers. Unlike arguments you might have with your friends, this kind of writing is fact based and includes NO opinions. Argument writing is still fact based, like informational writing, but its purpose is to convince someone of your argument based on you persuasive your facts are. Argument writing includes. . . *newspaper articles such as editorials *brochures / flyers *debates *speeches *essays
*Notice that many of these types or examples of writing are the same as informational writing. It's important to analyze what you read or write to make sure of its purpose--is the author trying to convince you of something or just present the facts?
Standards:

Introduce claim(s), acknowledge and distinguish the claims from alternate or opposing claims, and organize reasons and evidence logically.
