The Global Read Aloud is an organization and event started by a fellow English teacher, Pernille Ripp, who was looking to connect her students to other students around the U.S. and the world. Each year she and her team pick different books for each grade level span to read. Every October - early November, teachers around the country--and world!--read the same book and then connect in a variety of ways to create global community. To learn more about the program, visit their site, theglobalreadlaloud.com.
The books change each year so if you're interested in what we're reading this year, check out the selections page on their website or send me an email. We also connect with different classrooms in different ways from year to year. No matter how we connect, I require students to never use their last names or any personal identifying information. If you are concerned about your child's participation, please feel free to contact me.
