The Giver is a young adult, dystopian novel about a society that lives by strict rules in order to create what they consider to be a utopia. Each child in the community receive a job assignment at age twelve. Our main character, Jonas, receives an assignment that changes everything he thought he knew about his community and himself. We'll be looking at theme, character development, conflict, and description.
